Customizing a Name

Contech is relishing in all of the Custom Equipment orders we are receiving these days, as a matter of fact that is what keeps our mental, technical, and financial wheels a spinning. There is nothing more exciting to us than the challenge of designing and building a piece of Custom Converting Equipment. Not to brag, but we are pretty darn good at it too. The only thing that we are struggling with at this point in time is choosing a Name for the machine that we have just created.
It seems as our custom machines have become so custom, and so complex, that the name of it ends up being a paragraph long. Names like, “Digital Printing Narrow Web Die Cutter with Stacker,” or, “Contech Custom Coalating Sheeter Stacker,” or, our most recent creation…. “Contech Custom Modular Six Stations Unwind Single Station Rewind Dual Side Access Sheeter Gripper Stacker”…. Now say that 5 times really fast.
In the past we have given our standard line of equipment a name, such as Omega and Signmasker. We have even manufactured machines for one company who named all of the custom equipment that we have built for them a female name (that is my favorite). This process is very reminiscent of picking out a baby name, you spend months thinking about them but it is not tangible yet so it is hard to pick out a name until you have seen what you are naming, and when the time comes you want the name to be perfect, something that describes the baby, but is not over the top. Something distinct, that people will notice.
My hope for us here at Contech is that we will become as good at naming our machines as we have become at engineering and manufacturing them, after all, they are like our baby’s. If coming up with a custom name for our custom equipment is the worst of our problems, well, I suppose that our problem is really not a problem at all.
